When Nobel Peace Laureate Wangari Maathai founded the Green Belt Movement, her goal was to plant 1 billion trees. October 28th, 2011 marks the Green Belt Movement’s launch of the ‘I am the Hummingbird Campaign’ – a tree planting campaign seeking to honour the memory of Wangari Maathai by realizing her goal of seeing 1 billion trees planted around the world.
Take action to remember Wangari and her extraordinary work for the environment and women’s rights by planting a tree in her memory.
