Thousands of individual decisions, an organizational culture of support, and over-riding values of greed and avarice were all a part of creating the recession. True, government played a role. But to over-simplify and point the finger of blame at a sole cause for the recession is commiting the fallacy of oversimplification. I am surprised to see the Times highlighting fallacies in argument construction as “thoughtful and interesting.”

Why is the Times highlighting comments which blame the economic collapse solely on a “government induced housing bubble?” In a complex world, the endorsement of such sophistry perpetuates a “blame the government” myth.
